Maulers 17-9 Lisburn Lions

after last weeks horrendous performance and missing out on the final for the first time in 4 years, a good finish to the official tag season was needed. the lions were beaten 13-10 by hinch last week so maulers needed at least double that to gain back some credibility. the game started quickly for maulers who scored off the 2nd play and it set the tone for the game, with maulers running out 8 try winners to restore some pride after last weeks poor loss.

the end of tag season at newforge. not a satisfactory end result but to end on a high note was some consolation. maulers may appear again this year at the action cancer tag day festival hosted by belfast harlequins.

Possibly the Better Team Won

semi finals night at tag and the maulers went into the game against the possibles having comfortably won the league game 15-7. possibles had never beaten the maulers in their history but on the night, maulers lacked energy, pace and enthusiasm and were beaten by the better team in the end. possibles played a smart game to take a scalp of the maulers for the 1st time and in the process denying them the chance to make it 3 consecutive titles.

a gutting end to a strange season, with 3rd place still to play for next week aginst the lisburn lions who were comfortably beaten by hinch.

last night of league play at newforge seen maulers come up against new boys kelman knights. the knights were no match for maulers fire power or defensive resistance and the maulers ran out comfortable winners.

the win sees maulers finish 2nd in the league behind an undefeated hinch, facing a playoffs semi-final against the possibles. the other semi sees hinch taking on the lisburn lions who scraped home into 4th.

Maulers Romp Home Against Bulls

Maulers 23-8 Belfast Bulls

after last weeks controversial ending the event organisers decided to declare that game a 0-0 draw, much to our disappointment. this left us short a few trys' for points difference. this week against the bulls, maulers came out confident and with all guns blazing put forward a range of attack that was simply too much for the bulls. such a performance next week will secure maulers a place in the playoffs.

the game against academy started competitively and maulers put together a strong opening to lead at half time. midway through the 2nd half after warnings about contact the ref cut the game short for dissent from both teams. an unsatisfactory end to the game for maulers but a win nonetheless, pending an irfu 'enquiry'.

the 4th round of matches provided maulers with what seemed a tricky encounter aginst the experienced veterans of fat boy. a wet night started hot for maulers who got on the sheet early with a few good scores and they didnt look back, never losing the lead and chalking up a comprehensive win.

Run simultaneously with the Champions League Final this was a tightly run contest between to experienced sides. the Lions Led through much of the game but an important 5/10 minute spell for Maulers just after half time saw them notch up 5 consecutive scores, giving them enough to edge out the lions in the end.
